This is a beautifully crafted, 160ml Jiang Po Ni clay teapot (a mix of Duanni, Hongni, and Zini ores, foraged from Huang Long Mountain— and crafted by our parter studio in Yixing City, Jiangsu, China— where the art of making yixing teapots has taken place for generations. The ore itself is a mixture due to a landslide that exposed this original ore after many other ones had been used to excess and were beginning to close down. The teapot has the heart sutra hand inscribed, a 7 hole filter, a wide and rounded body, and medium to high porosity walls, making it suitable for any tea type. It’s an interesting balance of being porous but firm, allowing the tea to enter the pores but not interact or be muted at the microscopic level by the pores themselves, due to firing temperature, and the hardness of the clay ore.
This tea pot ships from our Boulder, CO Inventory, and includes a protective box, certificate of authenticity, and protective pouch for the teapot.
